Coach Spradlin, Varsity Football Continue 75 Year Tradition

Head Football Coach Mike Spradlin continued a 75 year tradition by visiting the Temple Founder Lions Club on Wednesday, 8/20/15.

For the last three quarters of a century, before the first kickoff, the head football coach has joined the club for lunch to give members a preview of the season.

Making the visit extra special, Spradlin brought the entire varsity football team along, creating a sea of Wildcat Blue inside the Gober Party House.

Coach talked about 2014’s playoff run to the state championship, and how much the incredible fan support at every game meant to the players and coaches.

Forecasting this year, Spradlin warned that Temple’s district is improved, with a number of very good teams.

Still, when asked who the team to beat is in District 17-5A, Spradlin responded, “Temple.”

Not to get ahead of themselves, Coach said the first three games against Round Rock, Austin Westlake and Bryan, will push the Wildcats, give the team focus on where they stand, and where they need to improve.

And, while the Wildcat offense will be even more up-tempo this year, Spradlin calls this year’s defense one of the best he’s ever coached.

Wildcat Football scrimmages Killeen High School on Friday, 8/21 at 6pm at Wildcat Stadium.

The 2015 season kicks-off at 7:30 on Friday, 8/28 against Round Rock at Dragon Stadium.
