Travis Science Academy Named One of the Top Schools in Texas

Travis Science Academy is being recognized as one of the top schools in Texas.

The Temple ISD middle school was named to the 2016 Texas Honor Roll, presented by Educational Results Partnership (ERP) and the Institute for Productivity in Education (IPE).

About Travis, they said, “After an extensive analysis of student data for every public school in Texas, [Travis Science Academy is a] clear leader in getting students to grade level and beyond."

Travis Science Academy is unique in Central Texas, offering an International Baccalaureate education at the middle year’s level for all students, with a focus on advanced sciences through our partnership with Baylor Scott & White.  As a result, Travis attracts students from both inside and out of Temple ISD.  This program sets up all Travis Science Academy students, no matter their background, for success in the International Baccalaureate Diploma programme at Temple High School, one of, if not the most, academically prestigious diplomas available around the world.

The 2016 Honor Roll recognizes public elementary, middle, and high schools that demonstrate consistently high levels of student academic achievement, improvement in achievement over time, and reduction in achievement gaps.  This year, the Texas Honor Roll recognized 727 higher performing schools that are distinguished for their academic achievement and for closing achievement gaps.

Common success factors in higher performing Honor Roll schools and school districts include clear, specific learning objectives aligned to college and career readiness, along with evidence-based instructional practices; establishing system-wide mission of college and career readiness for all students; investing in human capital; maintaining data and assessment systems to monitor school and student performance; and deploying resources and guidance to support schools’ efforts to prepare all students for college and career.
