New Faces and Proud Recognitions Dominate June Board of Trustees Meeting

6/12/17

The Temple ISD Board of Trustees met for their regularly scheduled meeting on Monday, June 12, in the Joe Everton Conference Room at the Temple ISD Central Administrative Offices.

District 55 Representative Hugh Shine surprised Superintendent Dr. Robin Battershell during the open forum.  He presented a Texas House of Representatives resolution honoring Dr. Battershell for her selection as the 2016 Region 12 Superintendent of the Year.

The board recognized former City of Temple City Manager Jonathan Graham as the recipient of the 2017 Friends of Temple ISD Wildcat Award.

About Mr. Graham, Board President Steve Wright said:

Jonathan Graham was not born a Wildcat but he became a Wildcat.  Jonathan has supported all things Wildcat, first as the City of Temple Attorney and then as the City Manager.  Over his tenure as City Manager, Jonathan supported TISD bond and TRE elections, helped Temple become safer, cleaned up neighborhoods and helped TISD realize its dream of having a Downtown TISD Administration Building.  Through his kind and gentle nature, he guided the revitalization of Temple and of Temple I.S.D.  Future Wildcats may not know his name, but they will reap the benefits of having Jonathan Graham as a friend of Temple I.S.D.  Thank you, Jonathan.

Executive Director of Secondary Education Lisa Adams presented a certificate of achievement to Travis Science Academy Principal Kristina Carter.  Mrs. Carter was named the 2017-2018 TASSP Region 12 Outstanding Middle School Principal of the Year, and is the first Temple ISD middle school principal to win this award since it's inception in 1999.
