File Backup

CD

Have you ever had an important item that you misplaced? The same thing can happen with a computer. If you are unable to locate a document, you should first search for it from your computer's Start Menu by choosing Search and by typing the document's name. If you still cannot locate it, you may have lost it forever. While the documents that you store on your Desktop and in your My Documents folder are saved to a TISD file server, nothing is ever totally fool proof. Information that you REALLY need to keep should always be saved in more than one place. Back up your important information to a floppy disk or a CD. A floppy disk or CD can be removed from the computer, so that even if your computer crashes or a virus attacks, you can still recover the data. The TISD Technology Department is happy to assist you with this process but cannot be held responsible for the loss of your data. If you would like instruction in how to do this, please see your Campus Technology Liaison or contact the Technology Help Desk.
