Passwords

Logins and passwords are used to access Email and the computer system and determine the kinds of resources that may be utilized on the TISD network. Most TISD user names consist of a person's first name separated from their last name with a period. TISD Email addresses are written in a similar manner and include the username followed by the @ sign and tisd.org as demonstrated below.

firstname.lastname@tisd.org

Computer users have always complained that it is difficult to memorize a multitude of passwords, so TISD has synchronized and assigned a single password for you to use with its services. Should you prefer to reset your own passwords please contact the Director of the Technology Department for more information about this process.

Keep in mind that it is always best to memorize your password. Should you ever need to write it down, be certain to store it in a safe place where it cannot be easily discovered. You should never write your password on a sticky note that is left attached to a computer monitor or hidden beneath the keyboard as this is a likely place for someone to look. You are responsible for any activity that occurs from the use of your login information, so be certain not to share this confidential information. It is not recommended that you check the "Remember My Password" box on your computer screen as this may offer others an opportunity. Also, please remember that when you have completed your computer activities you should always log out of the computer system by choosing Log Off from the Start Menu. Should you ever suspect that your password has been compromised or if your name changes, please email the TISD Technology Help Desk or call 791-6156 for assistance. The TISD Technology Department requests that you reboot your computer daily and leave it turned on during the week. Shutting your computer down for the weekend is also recommended unless you are expecting a task to completed on it. Technicians often work remotely and this will allow them to assist you more quickly.
