Quick Facts about Temple ISD

  • Temple Public Schools began instruction on June 13, 1883.
  • Temple ISD is a 5A school district with one early childhood centers (Pre-K), eight elementary schools (K-5), three middle schools (6-8) two high schools (9-12) and an alternative education campus.
  • Temple ISD serves a very diverse student body of approximately 8,900 students.
  • Temple ISD is the fourth largest employer in Temple with approximately 1,300 employees.
  • Through the years, Temple ISD has produced 200 National Merit Scholar Award winners, including Black Achievement and Hispanic Recognition Scholars.
  • Temple High School is an International Baccalaureate World School, offering the Diploma Programme since 1992. Temple ISD was the first District in Central Texas to offer the International Baccalaureate (IB) diploma and has, to date, awarded over 100 IB diplomas.
  • The District has exceeded state and national averages in SAT scores for 12 consecutive years and has received numerous other state and national recognition.
  • Temple High School has been recognized as one of "America's Top Public High Schools" by Newsweek.
  • Temple High School has been recognized by Achieve Texas as a Best Practices high school for the Institutes of Study and Career & Technology Programs.
  • Bonham Middle School and Western Hills Elementary School have been recognized as a "Best Public School" by Texas Monthly.
