District Safety & Security Committee

The Temple ISD District Safety and Security Committee serves as an advisory group supporting the district’s ongoing efforts to provide safe and secure learning environments for students, staff, and visitors. The committee:

• Participates in the development and implementation of emergency plans consistent with the district’s multihazard Emergency Operations Plan
• Reviews the safety and security needs of district campuses, facilities, and support services
• Provides recommendations to district administrators and the Board of Trustees regarding emergency preparedness and safety planning
• Reviews safety and security audits and reports required by the Texas School Safety Center
• Consults with local law enforcement and emergency management partners regarding district safety and security efforts

The committee meets at least once during each academic semester and at least once during the summer. District Safety and Security Committee meetings are open to the public and are conducted in accordance with the Texas Open Meetings Act.

The committee may convene in closed session when authorized by law to discuss confidential safety and security matters. Any action resulting from a closed-session discussion will be taken in open session.
