Classroom Champion: Temple's Jake Sames

Jake Sames will go to the University of Texas as an academic sophomore next year because of all the work he's done at Temple. All while playing numerous sports.

Sharon Goldman: He's just very driven, he enjoys school, he enjoys a challenge and he's always looking for a new challenge.

Jake Sames has accomplished some remarkable things at Temple High School, and I'm not even talking about the flowing locks and the beard.

Jake: I got it cut really really short after, or before I went to Peru and I didn't like how short it was so in sort of protest not only against my mother but some of my friends I just let it sort of grow out and let it takes its toll and the beard just came along with it.

No, it's more than that. When Jake gets to the university of Texas next fall he will already have 50 credit hours thanks to a pair of programs at Temple high school.

Jake: It's just something in my household that's been stressed over and over again to always take advantage of the best situations that are offered.
