Temple ISD Librarians Showcase Model for Bluebonnet Reading Extravaganza at State Convention

Eleven Temple ISD librarians traveled to San Antonio to represent the district at the Texas Library Association’s annual conference from April 19-22.

The Temple ISD librarians showcased this year’s theme through their presentation Bluebonnet Extravaganza: A District-wide Collaboration, which focused on teaching other librarians how to host their own event.

The Texas Bluebonnet Award Committee sponsored this unique and exciting multi-campus collaboration that celebrates readers’ successes.

The Temple ISD librarians shared their successes and lessons learned for future events.  Many librarians from across the state asked questions and shared ideas that included campus tracking, rotation schedule, incentives to promote reading, and Bluebonnet guidelines.

According to the TxLA website, this is the largest state library conference and the second largest library conference in the country after the American Library Association’s annual event.

This year’s conference theme was Own Your Profession, with specific attention to curiosity, passion, and innovation.

Cater Elementary School Principal Adrian Lopez and Kennedy-Powell Elementary School Principal Andrea Easley were also on hand to support our Temple ISD librarians.
