Temple Cross Country Teams Run to Regional Berths

Temple’s boys and girls teams ran their way to regionals with third-place finishes at Dale Watts Cross Country Course in College Station.

“I felt like everyone could have run better, but it was a tough course and all our kids really ran well,” Temple coach David Melvin said. “College Station and A&M Consolidated are two very talented programs. I think today was an eye-opener as far as seeing what it takes to get to that level. We still have a ways to go.”

Led by freshmen Jesse “Chuey” Hernandez and Luis Rojas, the Temple boys totaled 76 points to finish behind first-place College Station (27) and runner-up College Station A&M Consolidated (35).

“They ran great for freshmen competing in their first high school district meet,” Melvin said.
