Temple High School Career & Technical Education (CTE) students, known as the #WildcatWorkforce, competed on Saturday, February 4 at the Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) Region III Leadership Conference held at Waco Convention Center.
The Culinary team of Ciara Jackson, Edward Simmons, and Shana Warren placed first in Culinary Arts and Javier Martinez placed first in Serving up Success.
The Life Event Planning team of Tiona Blane and Talisha Fullilove placed sixth.
All advance to the state competition which runs April 6-8 in Dallas.
SkillsUSA
The THS CTE department, known as the #WildcatWorkforce, took 100 students to participate in the SkillsUSA District competitions on January 21st and February 3rd and 4th. Out of the 100 that participated 90 advanced and will be participating in the SkillsUSA State competitions in Corpus Christi in April.
In Cosmetology the team of Alyssa Rodriguez, Imelda Jasso, Abrianna Wells, Devin Rae Haynes, Haley Hillis, Hannah Trevino, Rylee Thompson were awarded first place in the Photo Panel Job Demonstration Boards category.
Layla DeLeon and Talijah Thomas McCraney won first place in Braiding and Hair Extensions.
Gabriela Lugo won first place in Men's Hair Cutting and second place in Nail Care.
Cindy Perez, Natalie Alvarado-Reyes, and Baileigh Buckley won first place in Nail Art.
Khadijah Reynolds won first place in 3D Nail Art.
Paola Lopez, Amie Pogany, Ty'Erria Fleming won first place in Women's Cutting Edge and Color Design.
Carley Cummings and Mikala Julian won first place in Fantasy.
Bryanna Navarro won first place in Evening Style.
Mikala Julian and De'Aujna Chiles won first place in Mini Salon Design.
The Automotive Quiz Bowl team took third place. Members include Jose Partida, Tyler Gordon, Zach Rumfield, Aaron Gibson, Issac Escamillia, Jonathan Alicia-Velez, and Juan Martinez.
The team of Ethan Shortridge and Ethan Cheek won first place in the Automotive Cylinder Head competition, and were also awarded the top honor, “Best of Show!”
Ethan Shortridge also took third place in “Tool ID.”
Juan Martinez and Felix Lopez won first place in the Brake Components category.
The Urban Search and Rescue team of Garret Crawford and Scott Holt, both freshmen, took third place.
In the Human Services category for Early Childhood Career Pathway, the team of Chase Fowler, Kaley McCormick, and Alyssa Garcia took first place.
Mackenzie Thompson took first place in the Early Childhood contest and Chase Fowler took third place.
In the Human Services Photo Panel category the team of Anahi Deltoro, Nayla Cyrus, and Juanita Garcia took first place.
In the Human Services Education & Training Job Exhibit category the team of Kaley McCormick, Alyssa Garza, Mackenzie Thompson, Bernice Duran took first place.
In the Human Services Early Childhood Job Exhibit category the team of Amaya Cortez and Adrian Cortez took first place.
In the Cake Decorating Job Exhibit category Jonathan Garibay took first place.
In the CPR/First Aid category Mercedes Haynes took second place and Tosha Vaughn took third place.
In the Nursing Assistant category Mercedes Haynes took second place and Dominique Humphrey took third place.
In the Health Occupation Portfolio category Samantha Rodriguez took second place.
In the Health Knowledge Bowl the Temple High School team of Colleen Stevens, Allison Silva, Brittany Perez, and Karla Yanez took third place.
In Criminal Justice the following students received a “Superior” on Job Exhibits: C'ierra Gutierrez, Joe Gomez, Jose Aviles-Mora, Jakayla Hollie, Kre'Shon Williams, Alec Wolbrueck, Ty Culp, Julia DeWitt, Deja Garza, Nakissia Steward.
