Temple HS Choir Students to Perform in Soundcheck 2023

TEMPLE, Texas — The Temple High School Choir program will be closing out the 2022-23 concert schedule with one of the program’s biggest shows as the program hosts Soundcheck 2023 next weekend.

Soundcheck 2023 will feature approximately 70 students from Temple High School choir classes. Students earned spots in the show through an audition process. Performances will be held Friday, May 19th, and Saturday, May 20th, at 7:30 p.m. each night in the Temple High School Auditorium. Cameron Roucloux, the head choral director at Temple High School, says the show is one of the highlights of the year, not only for the students performing, but also for the audience members. He compares Soundcheck to a live concert performance with a live professional backing band, live sound, and professional lighting, featuring THS choir students as the main performers. Soundcheck performers highlight popular songs from a variety of well-known acts. The family oriented show will features songs originally performed by Aaliyah, Bruno Mars, Elton John, Brooks & Dunn, The Beach Boys, Aretha Franklin, Michael Bublé, Etta James, The Bee Gees, AC/DC, Guns N' Roses, Paramore, Miley Cyrus, Rush, and more.

“Soundcheck is a night that shows all of our student’s creativity and artistic abilities as we get a chance to showcase our talents with songs that we want to sing,” said sophomore Madyson Chapman.

Senior Saniyah Galbreath adds, “Soundcheck is not like any other concert you’ll see at high schools in our area. We sing the songs that you all know and love! It is always a packed show that is non-stop fun for everyone.”

Reserved seat tickets for Soundcheck 2023 are $20, adult general admission tickets are $15 and student general admission tickets are $5. Tickets will be available at the door both nights or may be purchased in advance at the following link: https://centraltexastickets.com/organizations/temple-high-school-choir.

“Soundcheck is a great opportunity for students to get to express themselves as performers with the songs we want to sing,” said senior Thomas Painter.

“Performing with a professional band gives us as students a unique opportunity where we get a glimpse of maybe what our future could look like as performers,” said sophomore Avery Tarbet.
