Wildcat Mentors

KXXV-TV News Channel 25 - Central Texas News and Weather for Waco, Temple, Killeen |

Give a little time, get a lot in return.
It only takes two hours a month to make a huge difference in the life of a child. Mentoring helps kids stay off drugs, out of gangs and in school. Mentors help kids think BIG so they can fulfill their dreams. The best part is, you’ll not only see what it does for them, you’ll feel what it does for YOU.

We are embarking on a new adventure during the 20-21 school year due to COVID-19. We recognize that students will crave connection more now than ever. Moving forward, mentors and mentees will communicate through a pen pal program. We made this decision so we could continue to meet students' needs and honor the health and safety procedures that Temple ISD has put in place for the upcoming school year.

Our hope is that connections continue to flourish and grow.  In the past, some mentors found it difficult to meet with mentees during lunchtime because it was a quick time period, and the students were often easily distracted by their environment. We are excited for the opportunity that a pen pal program can provide for personal connection and mentoring.  We acknowledge there will be plenty of hurdles to overcome,  but we believe these hurdles are worth jumping for the needs of our students.
