Ten Temple HS Students Recognized During Fine Arts Signing Day Ceremony

TEMPLE, Texas — Ten Temple High School Fine Arts students will be continuing their education in fine arts related fields of study when they move on to college next year. The Temple High School Fine Arts Department recognized those seniors during the program’s annual “Signing Day” celebration on Monday (May 15). The celebration honors students who will be going on to college to major or minor in fine arts related fields of study.

The students honored during the ceremony represent several of the six fine arts programs sponsored by Temple High School. Two of the students honored will be attending Temple College. Erick Lemus will be majoring in music and Thomas Painter will major in musical theatre at TC. Holden Rounds is planning to major in theatre at McLennan Community College. Dorothy Elsner will major in theatre education at the University of North Texas. Saniyah Galbreath plans to attend Hussian College and major in contemporary musical theatre and film. Janice Cody is headed to the University of Houston as a lighting design major. Chloe Inman is planning to major in music education at the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor. Three Wildcats will also be attending Tarleton State University. Henry Eminger and Josiah Ramos both intend to major in music and Sophia Pacheco will pursue a degree in legal studies while minoring in theatre.

“The goal of TISD Fine Arts is to help our students embed fine arts as a part of their life and who they are,” said Catrina Lotspeich, director of fine arts for Temple ISD. “Some may pursue fine arts as a career and others as a hobby, but art, music, theatre, and dance should be a part of their life that brings them happiness and joy. It is an honor to be able to celebrate the achievements of our students as we help launch them on the next part of their fine arts journey.”

Each of the students was recognized individually as staff highlighted the school they will be attending and their planned field of study. The seniors also had a chance to reflect on the opportunity the Temple High School Fine Arts programs gave them to make Monday’s celebration possible. Representatives of Temple College, Tarleton State University and UMHB also attended Monday’s event in support of the students who will be attending those schools,

The students were also recognized for earning a combined total of nearly $100,000 in scholarships with more aid money pending. Following the ceremony, the department hosted a reception for the students and their families. The TISD Fine Arts Department began hosting a “Signing Day” celebration in 2019. Temple High School’s graduation ceremony will be May 27th at 10:00 a.m. at the Bell County Expo Center.
