Temple ISD Receives Rebate Check from BuyBoard

TEMPLE, Texas — The Temple Independent School District Has received a refund of nearly $100,000 through a rebate check from BuyBoard.com. BuyBoard representatives presented the check to TISD administrators during the board of trustees’ monthly meeting Tuesday night (January 9) which will go into the district’s general operating fund.

Temple ISD’s $95,199 rebate is a result of equipment and supplies purchased through the program by Temple ISD during the 2022-2023 fiscal year. BuyBoard.com is a purchasing cooperative established by the Texas Association of School Boards (TASB), that allows school districts and other governmental entities to purchase equipment and supplies at competitive prices from vendors already vetted by the organization. The goal of BuyBoard.com is to increase purchasing power, streamline the procurement process, and reduce administrative costs through an online system. The rebate system also allows school districts or government entities to put money back into their budgets while purchasing products, equipment, or supplies they would be purchasing with or without the existence of the rebates.

“The BuyBoard has been very beneficial for Temple ISD,” said Kent Boyd, assistant superintendent of facilities and operations for Temple schools. “By utilizing the purchasing power of the cooperative, we have been able to procure equipment and supplies in an efficient and fiscally responsible manner from reliable vendors, including several local vendors. In addition, the rebate feature allows us to generate much needed revenue while purchasing items we would be buying anyway.”

This year’s $95,199 rebate is the highest the district has received in the last eight years. Over that period, TISD has received a total of $476,860 in rebates from BuyBoard.com. The rebate to Temple ISD was also the largest awarded to any district in Region 12.

“In addition to serving students and staff, it is our responsibility to serve our community taxpayers,” said Dr. Bobby Ott, superintendent of Temple schools. “This is another example of TISD beholding the responsibility of fiscal stewardship to the highest standard possible.”
