Temple ISD Trustees Vote to Maintain Tax Rate for 2024

TEMPLE, Texas — The Temple Independent School District board of trustees voted to keep the district’s tax rate unchanged for the upcoming year at the board meeting Monday (September 9), The vote leaves the tax rate matching last year’s rate as the lowest level for TISD since the 2010 tax year.

The board kept the tax rate at $1.1489 for the upcoming year with $0.7939 designated for the purpose of maintenance and operations and $0.3550 designated for the purpose of payment of debt service. TISD’s current tax rate will remain a total of 25.14 cents lower than it was seven years ago.

“Temple ISD just completed $70 million worth of bond projects, welcomed more students to the district, and are currently mitigating the damages from the May 22nd tornadoes,” said Dr. Bobby Ott, superintendent of Temple schools. “I could not be more proud of the expertise we have in our Finance Department and our board’s commitment to taking care of our taxpayers.”

“We have worked very closely with the TISD board of trustees in setting the tax rate,” Brandy Stanford, chief financial officer for Temple ISD said. “Maintaining the current tax rate will allow us to continue with our strategic plan of bond refinancing to ultimately save our taxpayers on interest costs. We will continue to demonstrate the utmost fiscal responsibility with the resources that are entrusted to us.”
