TEMPLE, Texas — The Temple Independent School District Board of Trustees has named Bre’Layshia Alexander to serve as the Trustee for District 2 until the next board election in May 2026. Linell Davis, who had served as the District 2 Trustee since 2014, resigned from the position effective April 12, 2025, after she moved to a residence outside the boundaries of District 2.
In accordance with Temple ISD Board Policy BBC (LEGAL), if a vacancy occurs on the board, the remaining board members may fill the vacancy by appointment until the next trustee election. Upon receipt of Mrs. Davis’s resignation letter at the April meeting of the Board of Trustees, an online application was posted and remained open through 5:00 pm on April 28 for interested residents. The board held interviews for the position on May 6th.
Dan Posey, president of the Temple ISD board of trustees said, “It was clear in her interview that Bre’Layshia’s ideals are aligned with the values and beliefs of the community and our school district. She will be a great addition to the board as she offers a unique perspective as a former student, a former teacher, parent, volunteer, and active community member.”
Mrs. Alexander is a graduate of Temple High School and was class president. She was also a student athletic trainer, a cheerleader, was in band and choir, and was also a member of the National Honor Society, Mu Alpha Theta, and the Black Students Association. After college, Mrs. Alexander returned to Temple ISD as a teacher for three years before moving to Baylor Scott and White Health where she serves as Business Development Manager. Mrs. Alexander is also the current chair of the Temple Education Foundation board and will be chair of the Wildcat Mentor Board next year.
“It has always been a dream of mine to be on the school board because I feel like members are truly respected and can truly drive positive change in the district. I feel like the education I received in Temple ISD really prepared me for where I am today and being able to have a voice in this role is a very humbling experience to be able to give back to my hometown,” Mrs. Alexander said. “I have had the pleasure of going through Temple ISD from second grade through graduation, and I have had a chance to teach in the classroom I also have kids that will be entering the district. I feel like that gives me a unique perspective and the chance to make a positive impact in a greater way is very exciting to me.”
Mrs. Alexander is married to Ali, and has a daughter, Noa, and a stepson, Khayden. The couple is expecting another child in July.
