Temple ISD Names Lamar MS Competition Field for Brad Dusek

TEMPLE, Texas -- Temple Independent School District honored the memory and legacy of Brad Dusek by naming Lamar Middle School’s competition field Brad Dusek Field during a ceremony Tuesday evening (September 16). Members of Dusek’s family were on hand for the event, along with a large group of his former teammates and classmates. TISD Board of Trustees members and district administrators also participated in the celebration.

Dusek began his athletic career at Lamar Middle School, going undefeated in football, basketball, and track during his time on campus. He went on to be a standout athlete at Temple High School, lettering in multiple sports, and playing on both sides of the ball in football. Dusek was a proud graduate of Temple High School’s class of 1969. He would go on to play football at Texas A&M University and was drafted by the New England Patriots of the National Football League. Dusek would be traded to the Washington Redskins, was an All-Pro linebacker and capped his NFL career with a Super Bowl title in 1982.

Dusek is a member of the Texas Sports Hall of Fame and the Texas A&M Letterman’s Hall of Fame. He returned to Temple after his playing career and became a homebuilder. His wife, Marta, and his four children and their families were on hand for the field naming ceremony.
