Bonham MS Principal Recognized by Texas Music Educators Association

TEMPLE, Texas — Bonham Middle School principal Michael Hobbs has been recognized with a Distinguished Administrator Award by the Texas Music Educators Association (TMEA).

The TMEA Distinguished Administrator Award recognizes upper-level administrators across the state who have been instrumental in preserving quality music education programs on their campuses or in their districts. Hobbs was nominated for the honor by both campus and district Fine Arts staff members.

“It’s an incredible honor to be recognized as a TMEA Distinguished Administrator,” Hobbs said of the recognition. “This award reflects the dedication of our entire Bonham community to nurturing the arts and supporting music education as a vital part of our students’ development. Music empowers creativity, builds confidence, and connects us in ways that transcend the classroom. I’m proud of the work our educators and students do every day to keep the arts thriving at Bonham.”

The nomination submitted for Hobbs read in part – Mr. Hobbs is a passionate advocate for the music and arts programs at his campus and throughout the district. He has consistently dedicated his time – both during and after school hours – to attend every performance, competition, and award ceremony involving the music students of Bonham Middle School. His strong, visible presence on campus and at music events across the region sends a clear message to teachers and students alike: their work is valued, and they have his full support.

“Being named a TMEA Distinguished Administrator is the highest praise for a principal’s dedication to arts education,” said Catrina Lotspeich, Director of Fine Arts for ISD. “This award recognizes the active steps Mr. Hobbs has taken to sustain, promote, and invest in our arts programs, which directly lead to more successful, well-rounded students. We couldn’t ask for a better advocate for the arts at Bonham Middle School.”

Hobbs was initially notified of the honor during a principal’s meeting in September. He will also be recognized during the Temple ISD Board of Trustees meeting next Tuesday (October 14).
