TEMPLE, Texas — Temple Independent School District’s Kennedy-Powell Elementary School is one of a select number of schools from across the state of Texas to be named to the 2025 Educational Results Partnership’s (ERP) Honor Roll.
The ERP Honor Roll is a part of the national Campaign for Business and Education Excellence and engages business leaders in recognizing schools that are preparing students with the fundamental skills needed to be successful in the workforce and in life. The Honor Roll program, now in its 11th year, solely uses objective student achievement data as the criteria for recognition and seeks to find and highlight successful schools and encourage collaboration among educators on best practices for raising student achievement.
“We are so proud that Kennedy-Powell Elementary has been named to the Educational Results Partnership’s 2025 Honor Roll of Texas top performing schools! This honor is a celebration of the hard work, dedication, and teamwork of our students, staff, and families,” said Jill Owen, principal of Kennedy-Powell Elementary School. “Every day, our team members give their best to provide high-quality instruction and a supportive environment where all students can thrive. This achievement truly belongs to the entire Kennedy-Powell community, and we are so grateful for the partnerships that make successes like this possible.”
Honor Roll schools represent those that were comprehensively higher performing on the STAAR Reading, Language Arts, and Math Assessments, for all cohorts of student populations served, and that are improving outcomes for historically underserved student populations. Schools must have comprehensively performed above the trendline at least 80 percent of the time for all cohorts of students served and for all grade levels served. The schools are assessed on 22 different metrics to determine eligibility and only 15 percent of eligible schools made the Texas Honor Roll list.
“It is important for a school district and families to have schools that they are proud of and reflect the values of their community,” said Dr. Bobby Ott, superintendent of Temple schools. “It is equally important for others to recognize their achievements statewide and nationally. Kennedy-Powell Elementary School has consistently been this beacon of light for our families and community, and this is another shining example of their success.”
Kennedy-Powell Elementary serves as TISD’s STEM Academy on the elementary level and was one of only ten campuses from across Bell County, and 1,076 schools in the state, to earn a spot on the 2025 ERP Honor Roll. This is the second time in the last three years that Kennedy-Powell was named to the ERP Honor Roll. The school was also recognized on the 2023 ERP Honor Roll list.
