TEMPLE, Texas — The regular school year comes to an end next week, but the Temple Independent School District is offering several summer programming events for student enrichment to include academic and athletic summer camps.
Temple ISD Academics is once again hosting its annual Camp Invention at Thornton Elementary School. Camp Invention will run June 1-5 and provides enrichment opportunities for GT elementary school students. Bricks & Bots Elementary Lego STEM Camp will be held June 1-4 at Jefferson Elementary School. That camp provides an extension of STEM opportunities to identified elementary students. Future Innovators Middle School STEM Camp will be held June 1-4 at Bonham Middle School. The middle school STEM camp provides STEM extensions to identified middle School students. Middle School Math Camp will run June 1-5 at Bonham Middle School. This camp provides an opportunity for students with a history of mastery in math to enter the advanced pathway. High School Acceleration will run June 2-17 at Lamar Middle School and provide the same acceleration opportunities to high school students in physics, government, and economics. Digital Learning will be hosting a 3D Printing Camp June 8-11 at Kennedy-Powell Elementary School for students entering third-fifth grades. The district will extend its Read Lead Succeed! program into the summer from June 1-30. Students of all ages can log their minutes spent reading with weekly incentives for the top readers. There will also be staff member read alongs at the Temple Public Library and Temple Children’s Museum during the months of June and July. Temple ISD will host a pair of STEM in the Sunshine Family Mondays this summer. Those events will be held July 20 and July 27 from 9:30-11:30 am at the Santa Fe Plaza. This program will provide TISD students and families extension opportunities for STEM activities. The extra offerings are in addition to the district’s summer school, bilingual enrichment, and credit recovery offerings available to students who can benefit from those programs each summer.

In addition to the district’s academic summer programming, Temple High School’s athletic department will be hosting a variety of summer camps for students of all ages. Athletics will host camps for strength and conditioning, football, volleyball, girls soccer, girls basketball, and boys basketball.
