TEMPLE, Texas — The Temple High School International Baccalaureate (IB) Programme is celebrating an outstanding year of achievement during the 2025-2026 school year that saw Temple HS beat the world averages in graduation rate and several content areas.
A total of ten Temple High School students earned an International Baccalaureate diploma during the 2025-2026 school year as Temple High School posted a pass rate of 83.3% for the IB diploma. The world average pass rate was 82.6% and the national average was 66.2%. A large majority of the IB programs included in the world and national averages are at private schools. The Texas passing rate for IB diplomas came in at 52.1% percent this year.
“The accomplishments of our IB students are a reflection of countless hours of hard work, curiosity, and determination, supported by exceptional teachers every step of the way,” said Kaleigh Verett, IB Diploma Programme Coordinator for Temple High School. “I am always proud of the work of our students and teachers, but it is especially exciting when the hard work is reflected in the results.”
In addition to beating the global average in diploma pass rate, Temple High School students also beat the world averages in multiple content areas. THS best the world average in Spanish – Higher Level, Psychology – Standard Level, Music – Standard Level, and Mathematics – Standard Level. In fact, Temple High School’s average student math score was more than a point higher than the global average at a 5. The global average was 3.8. Several Temple High School students also scored 7’s or 6’s in math, which is the highest score possible.
“I am extremely proud of our IB teachers and students,” added Dr. Jason Mayo, Principal of Temple High School. “I am in classrooms every day and see firsthand the high-quality instruction our students receive from world class instructor. I look forward to adding more names to our IB Wall of Honor.”
Temple High School received its final IB score last week to complete results. THS became an IB authorized school in 1992. Created in 1968, the International Baccalaureate Organization’s Diploma Programme is a demanding pre-university course of study that leads to examinations and is recognized by elite universities around the world. The IB Diploma Programme is designed for highly motivated secondary school students and is currently found in more than 3,600 schools in more than 150 countries worldwide. Temple ISD offers International Baccalaureate programming for grades K-12.
