Temple ISD Finance Department Recognized for Excellence in Financial Reporting

TEMPLE, Texas — The Temple Independent School District has been awarded the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting by the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) of the United States and Canada for the seventh consecutive year.

An annual comprehensive financial report for the fiscal year ended June 30, 2025, was submitted by Temple ISD’s Finance Department and subsequently reviewed by an impartial panel representing the twenty-one-thousand-member association. Entries are examined for a “spirit of full disclosure” and are held to the high standards of the association as determined by a 45-page checklist of requirements. Temple ISD’s report was deemed by the association to clearly communicate the district’s financial story and motivate potential users and user groups to read the report. Receiving the Certificate of Achievement also demonstrates excellence in financial reporting and encourages and assists agencies to go beyond the minimum requirements of generally accepted accounting practices to prepare annual comprehensive financial reports that promote transparency.

“Temple ISD has developed a statewide reputation for financial excellence. As a school system situated in a heavy business community, financial acumen is an expectation of our residents,” said Dr. Bobby Ott, superintendent of schools for Temple ISD. “Community confidence in financial practices and handling the taxpayer dollar builds trust as quickly as student success. I am proud of our finance department and their consistent diligence around exceptional accounting practices.”

According to the GFOA, the Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting, and its attainment represents a significant accomplishment by the district and its management. In addition to the certificate of achievement, an Award of Financial Reporting Achievement will also be presented to the TISD Finance Department at the school board meeting in November. Temple ISD’s Finance Department has been recognized by state, national, and international groups for excellence in financial reporting for the past fiscal year.

“Behind this recognition are the people who work each day to connect our resources with the needs of our schools, teachers, and students,” said Brandy Stanford, assistant superintendent of finance for Temple ISD. “Receiving this award for the seventh consecutive year reflects our finance team’s dedication to responsible stewardship and their understanding that every financial decision has a purpose beyond the numbers.”
