Temple ISD Receives Grant from BKV Corporation to Fund Campus STEM Labs

TEMPLE, Texas — The Temple Independent School District will be adding to its elementary school STEM opportunities with the help of a generous grant from BKV Corporation (NYSE: BKV). That grant will complete district-wide access to STEM learning opportunities for elementary students.

Representatives from BKV formally presented the district with a $150,000 grant during a short ceremony on Thursday (October 29). The donation will go toward funding and equipping STEM labs at Jefferson Elementary School, Scott Elementary School, and Western Hills Elementary School. When those three STEM labs become fully operational, every elementary school campus in Temple ISD will have its own, on-campus STEM lab. Those dedicated STEM innovation labs ensure that students across Temple ISD have access to hands-on learning opportunities in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. The investment is intended to provide access to technology, engineering, robotics, coding, and other learning tools designed to strengthen STEM education and prepare students for future academic and career opportunities. The expansion is part of TISD’s master plan for reengineering STEM opportunities across the district and will help provide equal access to those STEM experiences across Temple ISD.

“All three principals were ecstatic when I shared the news with them,” said Dr. Renota Rogers, Chief Academic Officer for Temple ISD. “They are already coming up with ideas for their new STEM labs. We are grateful for BKV’s support and generosity as we strive to provide STEM learning experiences for our students.”

The grant will fund the purchase of STEM-focused educational equipment and technology, including coding robots, 3D printers, computer science and artificial intelligence learning tools, droners, hydroponic growing systems, and other hands-on learning resources. The new STEM labs are expected to expand access to project-based learning and provide students with opportunities to develop skills in coding, engineering design, creativity, and teamwork.

“Texas is where BKV was built, and we believe being a good neighbor means more than simply operating in a community. It means building meaningful relationships, showing up, and investing in the communities where we live and work,” said Chris Kalnin, Chief Executive Officer of BKV Corporation. “We’re proud to support Temple ISD and excited about the beginning of what we believe will be a strong and lasting partnership. As an energy company, we see firsthand the importance of STEM education, and we hope this investment helps inspire the next generation of innovators, engineers, and problem-solvers.”

The partnership reflects a shared commitment to creating educational opportunities that support student achievement and strengthen the Temple community. Through the new labs, students will have access to technology and hands-on experiences that complement classroom instruction and encourage exploration of STEM disciplines from an early age. The STEM labs are expected to be implemented in time for the 2027-2028 school year.
