If you're looking for signs it’s “back to school” season, look no further than Travis Science Academy.
1,502 backpacks fill the TSA library, each full of school supplies for the upcoming school year.
It’s all made possible through a wonderful partnership between Temple ISD and Churches Touching Lives for Christ.
On Monday, van after van pulled up to the curb in front of the school, and volunteers from 23 local churches and organizations, along with coordinators from each Temple ISD school and some great student helpers, unloaded the backpacks.
Inside, they were all sorted by campus and student, making sure each child’s backpack is ready to be picked up.
Over the next three days, families (previously selected for having the greatest need) will meet with the coordinators from their child’s school to receive their backpacks, and then be ready for great 2015-2016 when school begins on August 24th!
