Girls Win Cross Country District, De La Fuente Finishes Best Overall in Boys Race.

The Temple girls cross country team claimed the District 17-5A Championship on Thursday at the Heart of Texas Soccer Complex in Waco. The Tem-Cats narrowly edged out Hutto on the strength of all five scoring positions for the Tem-Cats finishing in the Top 11 places overall.

Carley Moore was the top finisher for the Tem-Cats as she took 3rd place in a time of 21:01. Rebecca Rivers of Elgin took the individual championship with a winning time of 20:05.

A flurry of Tem-Cats finished between 7th and 11th place led by Kaitlyn Goode was 7th in a time of 21:18, she was followed by Arleth Subiria in 8th (22:00), Alexicia Medlock 10th (21:18), Ajah McNiel 11th (22:27).

Just missing out on the scoring but equally impressive were Chloe Durbin in 12th (22:33) and Anna Vivatson 14th (22:59).

The Temple junior varsity took 3rd place overall at the meet. Brooklyn Gonzalez finished runner-up in the individual competition. Gonzalez took 2nd place with a time of 23:43.

Two more Tem-Cats finished in the Top 10 with Alexis Garcia in 4th (24:07) and Janet Cisneros 5th in 24:39.

Also in the top seven runners for Temple were Yarely Hernandez 18th (25:40), 20th (25:44), Keziah Fields 21st (26:00) and Victoria Hernandez 23rd in 26:06.

Next up for Temple will be the Class 5A Region III Championships that will be held on Monday October 26th at the Kate Barr Ross Memorial Park in Huntsille.

The Temple boys cross country team qualified for the Regional Meet on Thursday morning with a third place finish at the District 17-5A Championships held at the HOT Soccer Complex in Waco. However the highlight of the day was Israel De La Fuente who won the individual championship for the Wildcats.

De La Fuente ran a time of 17:20 to take gold at the 17-5A Championships. He edged out Alex Salas of Waco who finished second in a time of 17:24.

The top five finishers for each team counted towards the team title scoring. Waco took team championship with a total of 37 points and University second with 51. Temple was third with 57 points.

Temple did get two more Top 10 finishes with Carlos Crisantoin 8th place in a time of 17:59 and Holden Diserens 10th place in 18:03.

Rounding out the team scoring for Temple was Treyce Bailey in 15th (18:26) and Cory Jonason 23rd (18:51). Also competing for the varsity team was Chris Cadavid 29th (19:18) and Damian Soto 32nd (19:25).

The Temple junior varsity team also took third place with a team total of 66 points. The Wildcats had two runners finish in the Top 10, Seth Little was 3rd overall in 19:23 and Michael Cox 6th in 19:42.

Rounding out the junior varsity team was Avery Rodriguez in 11th (20:01), Bryce Richardson 22nd (20:54), Jacob Sames 24th (21:18) and Joseph Espinoza 39th (31:33).

The Wildcats will compete in the Class 5A Region III Championships on Monday, October 26th at the Kate Barr Ross Memorial park in Huntsville.
