THS UIL One Act Play 'Bug' Advances to Regional Competition

Temple's UIL One-Act Play team advanced from area to the regional contest on Friday, April 8. The area contest was held at Lone Star College in Tomball. Temple is now one of only 24 schools remaining in this single-elimination statewide tournament. Advancing with Temple were Magnolia High School (Bob: A Life in Five Acts) and Pflugerville Connally High School (Mrs. Packard).

Every one of Temple's five cast members received an acting award. This is very rare in one-act play competition since there are only 18 total acting awards to be given to the six schools. Andrew Tye was named Best Actor in the area. Emma Tolleson and Daniel Eshbaugh were named to the All-Star Cast, and Latrice Scott and Ta'Shawn Chunn were selected for the Honorable Mention All-Star Cast. Taylor Wilson was named an All-Star Technician.

Temple also won the Area Spike Tape Race with team members Gabe Fontanez, Emma Poehlmann, Isabel Suarez-Cruz and Seth Little.

The regional contest will be Friday, April 22 in the Slocomb Auditorium on the San Jacinto College Central Campus, 8060 Spencer Highway, Pasadena TX 77505. Competition begins at 2 p.m. with Temple as the second show. Admission is $10 per person. Two of the six schools will advance from the regional contest to the state finals in Austin.

Performance order at the regional contest will be:

(1) 2 p.m. Fort Bend Ridge Point, We Happy Few
(2) Temple High, Bug
(3) Pflugerville Connally, Mrs. Packard
