Temple ISD Incredible Kids Recognized

12 Incredible Kids were recognized Wednesday, 4/27/16, infront of a packed reception room at the Bell County Expo, including two Temple ISD students.

As part of this year's Central Texas Incredible Kids Celebration, Scott Elementary School 5th grade student Carmel Ankrom and Temple High School senior Jarrett Roberts were both honored.

Carmel was recognized for her caring heart.  She sends Christmas cards and ornaments to children in India, donated stuffed toys (including her own) to Philippine typhoon victims, visits three elderly ladies at Wellington Rehab and Healthcare Center every Sunday, and wrote a book, "Peacock in Pink", about her favorite animal the peacock, that she co-published with her mother.

Jarrett was recognized for his positive influence on fellow students, and his ability to balance school, volunteering and work.  Jarrett raises and shows pigs, fundraises with various school departments and organizations, is a member of the Fire-Drill Committee, FFA, SkillsUSA and he races dirt cars.  On top of that, Jarrett is heavily involved in Career & Technical Education and plans to have a career as a diesel mechanic.

Additionally, Temple ISD School Board President Steve Wright was recognized for his "Outstanding Achievement for Youth", the Temple High School Air Force JROTC presented the colors, the Temple High School Polyfoniks provided the entertainment, and Temple High School Culinary students baked the desert.

Temple ISD also congratulates our incredible partners at Ralph Wilson Youth Club, whose Moment in Time Capital Campaign Committee, the group that fundraised and organized the building of RWYC's new facility, also was recognized for "Outstanding Achievement for Youth."

Both Mr. Wright and Temple ISD Superintendent Dr. Robin Battershell served on that committee.

The RWYC Cooking Team also provided the delicious fajita lunch.
