A 7-year-old boy decided to use his birthday party as a platform for community service.
Kyler Skrabanek, a first-grader at Kennedy-Powell Elementary, celebrated his birthday July 24 and instead of guests bringing presents, they were asked to bring school supplies for children in need.
Kyler said he knows other little kids look forward to ice cream, cake and presents. But this year, with encouragement from his parents, he decided to take a different and more mature approach to celebrating his birthday.
