Temple High School Band Excels at All-Region Jazz Competition

Temple High School’s nationally recognized Wildcat Band excelled at the 2016 All-Region Jazz Band auditions on Tuesday, September 27 at Temple High School.

Wildcat Band students earned 15 chairs in the 2016 All-Region Jazz Band.

In addition, seven students earned a chair in the All-Area Jazz Band.

The following students earned a chair in the top Region Jazz Band Jazz Orchestra; Renuka Jayasinghe (alto saxophone 2nd chair), Kyle Cunningham (tenor saxophone 1st chair), Damond Portillo (tenor saxophone 2nd chair), Logan Woodward (trumpet 2nd chair), Hannah Wilson (trumpet 3rd chair), Zach Jett (drums 2nd chair), Nick Mischtian (bass 1st chair).

The following students earned a chair in the 2nd Region Jazz Band Jazz Ensemble; Bailey Voss (alto saxophone 2nd chair), Joseph Walters (tenor saxophone 1st chair), Alex Arroliga (baritone saxophone 1st chair), Malachi Ball (trumpet 1st chair), Shane Baxter (bass trombone 1st chair), Zoe Wong (piano 1st chair), Cole Yates (bass 1st chair), Ashton Yarbrough (vibes 1st chair).

The Wildcat Jazz bands are under the direction of Mr. Robert Medina and Mr. Brent Mathesen.

We’re so proud of these students and the hard work they’ve put in.  Yay band!
