Congratulations to the Temple High School band students who earned inclusion into the 2016-2017 All-Region Band.
They include flautists Jordyn Opperman (1st chair Symphonic Band) and Jenna Crumpler (6th chair Concert Band), clarinetist Damond Portillo (2nd chair Wind Symphony), alto saxophonist Renuka Jayasinghe (3rd chair Wind Symphony), tenor saxophonist Kyle Cunningham (2nd chair Wind Symphony), trumpeters Hannah Wilson (3rd chair Symphonic Band), Logan Woodward (5th chair Symphonic Band), Naman Bhakta (7th chair Symphonic Band), bass trombonist Shane Baxter (1st chair Concert Band), euphoniumist Russell Hogue (1st chair Concert Band), tubist Fisher Dungan (1st chair Concert Band), percussionists Nicholas Mischtian (4th chair Concert Band) and Keyshawn Johnson (5th chair Concert Band).
In addition, there are seven students who earned inclusion in the 5A All-Area band and will audition for the All-State band in January. They include Jordyn Opperman (2nd chair flute), Damond Portillo (1st chair clarinet), Renuka Jayasinghe (1st chair alto saxophone), Kyle Cunningham (1st chair tenor saxophone), Hannah Wilson (4th chair trumpet), Shane Baxter (2nd chair bass trombone), and Russell Hogue (2nd chair euphonium).
The All-Region Auditions took place on Saturday, December 3 at Midway High School.
Directors of the Temple High School bands are Robert Medina, Brent Mathesen and Ben Houghton. Thanks also go out to our private lesson staff which includes Erin Gibson (flute), Anna Carney (clarinet), Michelle Palmer (clarinet), Linda Fairlie (bassoon), Colin Mason (saxophone), Marcos Duran (saxophone), Jim Gibson (trumpet), Jennifer Essary (horn), and Clayton Capps (tuba).
