THS Kittens dominate at Central Texas Dance Classic

The Temple High School name was called often during the awards ceremony at the Central Texas Dance Classic held at Connally High School in Waco on Saturday, February 17.
 
The THS dance team, The Kittens, brought home 15 awards and honors including:

- Officer Sweepstakes (85 or higher from every judge)
- Officer Judges Award (90 or higher from every judge)
- Officer Novelty Runner Up 
- Best In Category Officer Open (Highest Scoring Officer Open of the day)

- Team Sweepstakes (85 or higher from every judge)
- Team Judges Award (90 or higher from every judge)
- Team Pom Runner Up 
- Best In Category Team Novelty
- Best In Category Team Contemporary
- Best In Category Show Production
- Team Novelty Applause Award for Audience Appeal/Entertainment
- Team Novelty Supreme Award (Highest Scoring Novelty Performance of the day)
- Team Show Production Supreme Award (Highest Scoring Show Production of the day)
- Team Contemporary Supreme Award (Highest Scoring Contemporary of the day)

- Team Large Grand Champion (1st Place in Team Large Category, Highest Scoring Large Team of the day)

Additionally, junior Carrington Boyd performed a solo dance and received a superior rating and a first division medal.

Coach Lesly Powell said it best, "The Kittens did so amazing this weekend at our 1st contest of the season! They worked so hard yesterday but, most importantly they had fun with each other!"
