Meridith-Dunbar Early Childhood Academy

If the 2015 Bond passes on November 3rd (Early Voting Oct. 19-30), Temple ISD will complete the master plan for Meridith-Dunbar Early Childhood Academy.
 
Renovations will take place on bathrooms throughout the campus, the cafeteria and kitchen, and the back hallway.
 
The back hallway will also be extended to the gymnasium, securing the outdoor learning center, garden and playground.
 
The gymnasium will be renovated to make it age appropriate for the students at the school.
 
The front wing of the campus, the library and the auditorium were renovated with money from the 2011 Bond.
Meridith-Dunbar Early Childhood Academy, built in 1955 as Dunbar High School, is one of Temple ISD's oldest campuses.
Renovations were made to the front entrance in the 2011 Bond.
As you walk in the main door, to your left is a pre-k wing, to your right is the auditorium, and ahead are the library, and the hallway that leads to the Gifted & Talented Education Center, the cafeteria, Head Start and more pre-k classrooms.
A renovation was recently completed on the historic auditorium. The renovation included a new, state of the art sound system and improved acoustics.
This beautiful, historic, recently renovated auditorium seats more than 800 people, and is available for the public to rent.
The main pre-k hallway was renovated in the 2011 Bond.
Classrooms in the front hall were renovated to meet the needs of pre-k learners.
However bathrooms were not renovated in the 2011 Bond.
If approved by voters, the 2015 Bond will renovate these bathrooms to make them appropriate for pre-k students.
The Meridith-Dunbar Library was renovated in the 2011 Bond.
This hallway leading to the cafeteria and the back hall was recently painted, and features the pictures of graduating classes from Dunbar High School.
If approved by voters, the 2015 Bond will renovate the cafeteria and kitchen at Meridith-Dunbar, to prepare for the return of full day pre-k.

Classrooms in this hall will also receive renovations in the 2015 Bond.
If approved, they will look similar to the classrooms that received renovation in the 2011 Bond.
The front wing received energy efficient windows and new HVAC systems in the 2011 Bond.
If the 2015 Bond is approved by voters, the back wing will receive the same renovations with new, energy efficient windows and new HVAC systems.
Also, if the 2015 Bond is approved by voters, the back wing will be extended to the gym in the back of this picture. This will help accommodate the expected return of full day pre-k, and will secure the courtyard that contains the garden, outdoor learning center and deck, and playground.
