Students at Temple ISD elementary schools now have a new bench to sit on at school, where they can talk through problems, work out differences, bond, and grow new friendships.
It all comes thanks to the efforts of Altrusa International of Temple.
An Altrusa member learned about the Buddy Bench program on Facebook, and decided to ask the group to bring it to our community.
The goal of the program is simple:
The buddy bench is a simple idea to eliminate loneliness and foster friendship on the playground. Let's spread the message of inclusion and kindness!
Each bench is representative of that elementary school's color, and Glen's Welding of Temple volunteered to install them all.
From counselors, to teachers and administrators, this simple bench now provides a place where they will further instruct our students on how to interact with each other now, and for the rest of their lives.
