I join the armed service because every male in my family had been in the armed service since Civil War World War 1 Vietnam Korea war war 2 there's been a Peters that is served in the military because of my grandfather he helped raise my sister and I quite a bit and he was at a Vietnam War veteran saved to medals while he was in the Army there and when was the Bronze Star for Valor and courage and then the other one was the Purple Heart for being injured while he was in battle also my mother Mary day the armed service men in the Army he was a military policeman and we had to travel quite a bit and army was just always around me or join the armed services because my family was in the armed services my grandfather's my father my uncle and I wanted to be just like my parents and my and my family I join the armed forces so I can give it back to my country because I want to serve my country I have several family members are wearing the Army and how one all the steps a family of military Mom Dad grandparents it was just freedom life to me it means that we can choose whoever we want to be and it just it's life is having the freedom to think and act and sat freelee freedom is the right to choose my religion and my education it is the military personnel and First Responders have served so much for their country in order to give us our freedoms so having that desire to be anything that I want to be no knowing that I need to honor that freedom that they provided and sweat freedom freedom to me means that I have the opportunity Kennedy to elect the leader of our country and to worship at the church I feel led to be worshipping at to be able to be yourself don't have to worry about anything me being able to live your life and do things that you want to do an achieve the things that she wanted she the other countries don't get to do I was at Panzer kaserne in Germany at the Special Operations Command and I walked in I thought the guys were watching a movie I was working at McLane Company send Clerk and Temple and I remember that they had TVs that they rolled in so that we can actually watch the footage it was incredibly sad I had just been married to my husband James for a month and I called him to find out what was going on when I called them they were actually preparing for deployment to go overseas as ice as the news footage with rolling and I remember him telling me that he would not be able to say goodbye person that you have to do it over the phone and so about an hour later he called me back and said that he had forgotten his ID card his military ID Card at home and that he couldn't be deployed without having the ID card so I was very blessed have all the time in the military that he's heard that it was the one day that he had left his ID card at home how are they able to actually go and take it to him actually for who was on lockdown and so we were not able to allow anybody on or off forehead I have Captain had let the guard at the gate know that I needed to give that ID card to him so is able to go in and actually give him a hug and and say our goodbyes in person which credit we he never end up having to leave but you know what I know that at the time in 11 hours in at Fort Hood on base in a ball watching it all happen 911 that morning I was on a school bus picking up kids to take them to school and later I did not get a teaching position that day I was substitute teaching and so I went home and spent the day with my wife as we watch it all unfold on TV on 9/11 I was substituting I was outside for a Kindergarten class in killing powers are crashing in the next thing I know we were getting ready play Freedom isn't free people have sacrificed for us to live the way we live and please celebrate and thank them for what they've done I would just say that there are so many that soldiers and First Responders to that have laid down their lives for us and knowing that that you would just use that freedom in a good way you know make sure you get back to others because not other countries and you know have had the friends that we have because of our soldiers there is a quote that is a phrase that has actually been coins for a Purple Heart recipient and that phrases all gave some some gave all and just stands that you know know all soldiers make it you know they fight for our freedom so telling them thank you you know when you see them out in public for those that have served and are currently serving just would mean so much to them for their gratitude just to say thank you and to their families I like to encourage all the boys and girls to go ahead and give to our country as well through the Armed Forces because they have the opportunity in the armed forces for you to get
