Accountability Reports

Texas Academic Accountability System

The Texas Legislature in 1993 enacted statutes that mandated the creation of the Texas public school accountability system to rate school districts and evaluate campuses. The Texas Education Agency state accountability page has information available about our statewide accountability rating system, the Texas Academic Performance Reports, school report cards, and the Texas Performance Reporting System.

School Report Cards

The School Report Cards are produced annually for each Texas public school and contains information from the Texas Academic Performance Report (TAPR), as well as some information from the Accountability Rating System for Texas Public Schools and Districts. School Report Cards may be found on the TEA School Report Cards webpage.

The Texas Academic Performance Reports (TAPR)

TAPR pulls together a wide range of information on the performance of students in each school and district in Texas every year. Performance is shown disaggregated by student groups, including ethnicity and socioeconomic status. The reports also provide extensive information on school and district staff, programs, and student demographics. For the most current district or campus TAPR, please visit the TEA Texas Academic Performance Reports webpage.

Texas Financial Accountability System

The state's school financial accountability rating system, known as the School Financial Integrity Rating System of Texas (FIRST), ensures that Texas public schools are held accountable for the quality of their financial management practices and that they improve those practices. The system is designed to encourage Texas public schools to better manage their financial resources to provide the maximum allocation possible for direct instructional purposes.

Federal Report Cards

The U.S. Department of Education requires each state to publish an annual report card with specific district- and campus-level data. For more information about the Federal Report Card, please visit the Texas Education Agency ESEA Federal Report Cards  webpage.
